Building services and facilities management provider, Inviron, has completed the conversion of an existing stable block, on the outskirts of Newmarket, into two state-of-the-art drug testing laboratories for Quotient Bioresearch (which incorporates HFL Sport Science).
Inviron's Building Systems Eastern business, working once again with main contractor ISG Jackson, carried out the complete mechanical and electrical installation on a design and build basis at the facility.
The installation included full air conditioning and ventilation systems, within a predetermined pressure regime, along with separate cold and freezer rooms. The newly converted laboratories, which will be used to test various types of samples, (including those from racehorses) from all over the world, will be backed up by a generator and UPS system.
The fast-track project was handed over to Quotient Bioresearch at the end of October 2008.
Colin Clements, Inviron's General Manager, Building Systems Eastern commented: "This project, creating a state-of-the-art facility, that will be used to test samples from sporting events for banned substances, has continued to strengthen the working relationship between ourselves and ISG Jackson."
HFL Sports Science is a trading name within Quotient Bioresearch, which is part of the Quotient Group. It is the world's only laboratory that is involved with sports drug surveillance and pharmaceutical contract research. It tests samples from racing animals as part of the banned substance control process, as well as providing analytical testing services for companies in the pharmaceutical, food, consumer and healthcare industries.
