Inviron, the leading building services and facilities management provider, is once again heading to a remote British Antarctic Survey (BAS) research station to fulfill an electrical testing and inspection contract.

An electrician from Inviron's Building Systems Eastern Division's will head out to Signy Island, one of the South Orkneys in October 2008.

Asa Downing will be responsible for the eight-week programme to test and inspect all the fixed electrical systems, including lighting, small power, mechanical plant supplies, generator and mechanical plant control panels, as well as main and sub-main power distribution at the Research Station.

This will be the second time Inviron has sent employees out to the chilly climes of the Antarctic. Earlier this year, Asa and his colleague, Jason Faulkner, undertook a 10-week electrical testing and inspection programme at the BAS' Rothera Research Station.

Colin Clements, Inviron's General Manager Building Systems Eastern, commented: "We are pleased to be working with the British Antarctic Survey once again, and Asa is looking forward to another trip to this remote area of the world, as the experience they had at Rothera was second to none."

Athena Dinar, from the British Antarctic Survey, said: "We are delighted to be working with Inviron again, and to use their expertise to service all our electrical systems at Signy Island."
