Leading building services and facilities management provider, Inviron, have been awarded the contract to provide the mechanical and electrical systems required to accommodate larger aircraft, such as the new A380 airliner, at London Gatwick Airport.
Inviron will deliver the contract on behalf of main contractor, Carillion Civil Engineering, who is providing six additional aircraft stands, new roads and water settlement ponds within the North West Zone of the airport.
Inviron's team of specialists will install the airfield ground lighting, new signage and associated electrical equipment for the project. In addition, they will install the pumping facilities and equipment kiosk MCC fit-out required, which will collect runoff water for processing before it is returned to the local River Mole.
Rob Robson, general manager from Inviron, said: "We're pleased to be awarded such a prestigious contract by Carillion Civil Engineering. London Gatwick is one of the busiest airports in the country and it's great to be able to support them in accommodating these new larger airliners."
Guy Russell, Carillion's M&E Project Manager, commented: "This is a very exciting project which needs to be meticulously planned and carried out and we are confident that Inviron will deliver it to the high standards required."
The team started on site in December 2009 and are due to complete the project in November this year.
