Leading building services and facilities management company, Inviron, has recently completed a mechanical and electrical installation project, as part of a major refurbishment at Ipswich Hospital.
The project, working for main contractor Barnes Construction, was to transform the Framlingham Ward into a state-of-the-art neonatal facility, fully equipped with the latest systems and technology to care for premature babies. Inviron's senior electrical contracts manager, Vincent Langley, comments: "This has been an interesting, sensitive and complex project, which required efficient and well-planned methods to ensure minimal disruption to this busy hospital.
"The mechanical and electrical refurbishments we undertook included new boiler and chilled water plant installation, a number of modifications to the ventilation system, medical gas installations and all new sanitaryware for the ward."
In addition, the team also removed and replaced all the existing lighting, power and associated equipment, as well as new fire alarm, nurse call, IT and UPS systems.
Paul Lambert, from Barnes Construction, commented: "This contract is the most recent of a raft of projects in which we have worked together. Over the years, the teams at Inviron and Barnes have achieved a reputation for delivering quality workmanship, on time and to budget. This is something we are confident of sustaining in the future."
The new ward, which was officially opened in September, is now one of the leading neonatal facilities in the Eastern Region.
