Inviron working with British Antarctic Survey
Inviron, the leading building services and facilities management provider, has begun work on a contract that will facilitate important scientific research being carried out by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), which is part of the Natural Environment Research Council.

Inviron Building Systems (Eastern Region), located in Ipswich, has been appointed to carry out the refurbishment of electrical services, which includes replacing the Science Block lighting, the supply and installation of three new LV Switchboards and a 500 KVA Standby Diesel Generating set, which has the facility of bumpless (no break) transfer on mains restoration. This is critical to ensure continued support from the BAS head office in Cambridge to the operational staff based at the Antarctic and South Georgia stations.

The £500,000 contract is due to be completed by 31 March 2007.

BAS has for 60 years undertaken the majority of Britain's research on and around the Antarctic continent.
