Inviron, the leading building services and facilities management provider, is due to begin installing mechanical and electrical (M&E) services to two 11-storey 14,000sq m, bespoke office buildings at the Baltic Place development in Gateshead Quays in the historic heart of Gateshead.

Working with main contractor Carillion, the team also includes Waring and Netts Architect and Desco (design and consultancy) Ltd. A key requirement for the buildings will be a high standard of energy efficiency, which requires a BREEAM Rating of Excellent.

From May, Inviron's Building Systems, North East business, will install air conditioning, ventilation and heating systems, above ground drainage and sanitary ware, security systems, IT, intelligent lighting systems, small power, data containment and BMS systems and wiring. The completion date is June 2008.

Last month, the North East business completed an M&E services installation to the Royal Bank of Scotland's Cyan Building in Rotherham. Working with long-term partner Styles & Wood, the work included standby generator, LV distribution, general lighting and small power, UPS, telecoms containment, disabled alarms, fire alarm modifications, PA system, and ventilation and cooling modifications.
