Inviron,
the leading building services and facilities management provider, have
transformed unused office space at RAF Brize Norton into a modern and
well-equipped Cafe. The Oasis Cafe, which was officially handed over to RAF Welfare and
Salvation Army volunteers at the end of January, is a welcome addition
to the Base. It is open to all personnel, although it is envisaged the
Cafe will primarily be used by trainees at the Defence Movements and
Parachute Training School, Junior Ranks and as a meeting place for
families. Inviron's transformation of the former office block included removing
walls, replacing flooring, refurbishment and decoration of the interior
and exterior, as well as designing and installing a new kitchen and
serving counter. Richard Cordier, Inviron's project manager, said: "This building has
been completely refurbished and we hope the Welfare Team and Salvation
Army volunteers, who will be running the Cafe, are pleased with both
our and the DCRE Team's efforts. We have provided a fresh, modern and
comfortable space for the young RAF trainees to use during their
leisure time and for the families of our servicemen and women to meet." Flt Lt Liz Brassington, Officer In Charge (OIC), RAF Brize Norton,
commented: "Inviron's project manager, Richard Cordier, galvanised the
cafe build and I have had extremely high levels of confidence in the
end result and Inviron. He has always assisted when required and has
helped produce an excellent Cafe that will be a treasured welfare
facility at Brize Norton. "Inviron, along with the DCRE, kept constant lines of communication
open with me, as OIC, and walked a fine line ensuring that the RAF's
needs were met alongside both the practicalities and cost implications."
