| Cable production facility installation |
Building services and facilities management provider, Inviron, has commenced work on the conversion of an existing warehouse, at Hartlepool Docks, into a state-of-the-art production facility for JDR Cables.
Inviron, working with main contractor Carillion, is installing power, lighting, fire alarms and controls to the entire building, along with heating, ventilation and compressed air systems. The high level services, such as High Bay Lighting, will be co-ordinated by the project team around substantial ground works to provide foundations for the production equipment.
Once operational the facility, which is due for completion in February 2009, will enable JDR to manufacture specialist off-shore umbilical and sub-sea power cables, weighing up to 2,200 tonnes, which can be spooled directly to cable laying vessels moored nearby.
Alan Crozier, Inviron's General Manager, Building Systems North East, commented: "We are pleased to be working alongside Carillion on this interesting and unusual project, which will eventually help JDR Cables service the multiple wind farm projects planned for the coast of Britain and Europe."
