Project Description:
In March 2007 the Theatre closed to undergo a major refurbishment and modernisation programme, which was completed in November 2007 and brought the service and facilities of Theatre into the 21st Century.
The refurbishment improved the front of house areas by doubling the foyer area, constructing a 60 metre long outdoor balcony, new bars, kitchens, hospitality areas, toilets and disabled facilities. Lifts and staircases have been provided to improve access between floors on both sides of the auditorium.
Other features include new air treatment and ventilation systems to improve audience comfort and a state of the art sound enhancement system to improve acoustics in the auditorium to concert hall standards.
