Project Description:
The £16m redevelopment programme of the Royal Observatory at Greenwich included the restoration of the Grade I listed South Building, incorporating new astronomy galleries and a learning centre along with the complete refurbishment and expansion of visitor access at Flamsteed House.
The project also included construction of the new Peter Harrison Planetarium, with its eye catching patinated bronze cone which has been designed to give a 21st Century introduction to the world beyond the night sky.
The project, which started in November 2005 and was completed on time and within budget, was officially opened by the Queen in May 2007.
